Open Call: 2026 Artist Community & Research Residency
This is our second year Art Interdisciplinary Residency Program - focusing on artistic project-based and community research that will be hosted in Perak and Penang. This is a unique opportunity for artists and practitioners of selected disciplines to immerse themselves in a dynamic and supportive creative environment, explore new ideas, and further develop their artistic practice with the local creative communities in Malaysia.
This year’s theme, Roots and Resonance: Documenting the Living Traditions of the Native Artistry and Communities, is about exploring native artistry and rediscovering art in nature. Dive deep into the daily lives of the native community and explore how their culture is reflected in their artistry.
Information on residency
The residency will take place for 2 (two) months:

Residency type:

Artist residency: Open to artists developing their artistic practices and engaging traditional with emergent modes of artmaking.

Community research: Open to practitioners seeking to explore the relationship between modern and traditional artistic practice and forms of research processes, or whose core practice engages with local communities or the public in various ways, that will help in their curatorial process and foster collaboration amongst the creatives.

Call for artists and practitioners with a core focus in photography, documentary, sound art, and mixed media installation art.
